- Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP): This is a federal program that started in 2008 in an attempt to help the housing market and with the long-term goal of helping families keep their homes. If your lender received TARP funds, then you are eligible for this program. One of the program mandates is that your lender works with you prior to foreclosing on your home.
